God Hop Movement Presents Food, Clothing, and Hip Hop
No child left behind? Well the children of the United States are ranking in the low to mid teens in reading, science, and math. Over half of middle aged children in the United States lack elementary proficiency in reading. The epic proportions of drop outs at primary and secondary levels is proof that student needs are not being met and that we may have to reassess our teaching methods and ideologies.
The elements of Hip Hop are the essential building blocks that are needed to build mental and physical life skills in our communities right now. Afrika Bambaataa the Godfather of Hip Hop called the fifth element, knowledge of self. Armored with that knowledge, The God Hop Movement presents Food, Clothing, and Hip Hop. This is a cultural education project that will teach the history and development of Hip Hop’s (Indigenous Art) culture. It will engage and educate students about health, community development and advocacy, social entrepreneurship, leadership and team building, and career development.
